A Bit Of The Old Random

Every now and again I wander from the normal path (I am nothing but a creature of habit, right up until I get bored anyway). The other day I was browsing THIS blog, which is great, when I started surfing through a few of his links.

I happened upon THIS blog. The latest post is very funny. I really do love hearing about foreigners in the UK, especially when it's as well written as this. Seriously, go check it out.

Loads of other stuff is going on too. Mainly work. Not that I'm complaining. I'll actually have an extra dose of work if there's any going.

Talking of work, just finished a room for a couple I have known for quite a while. Turns out that the woman is a bloody nightmare. Over the years a pattern has developed, which only now I've been able to see. It kind of works like this...and I'll do it in steps...

1. Successful Man meets successful Woman.
2. Woman gets pregnant & has sprog.
3. Woman leaves high pressure job (PR, Recruitment etc etc) to look after said sprog.
4. Fed up with talking "goo goo ga ga" 24/7, Woman decides the residence needs sprucing up.
5. Decorator arrives.
6. Woman then proceeds to try and recreate the high pressure environment she was in by pissing the decorator off no end using a plethora of unnecessarily long words, none of which are applicable to the job anyway and getting her arse confused with her elbow.

I'm used to dealing with morons, so I try and explain everything I possibly can about a job. But there's just no way of dealing with complete and utter stupidity when it's bolted onto a shrill and condescending voice with a sprinkling of Arse Bandit Attitude.

I just refuse to work for stay at home mothers that had big deal jobs in their previous lives. It's what you used to do. Not what you do now. Which is clean up shit that sticks like Velcro and feed the ever gaping face that is a baby. You really do not need to speak to me like I'm the damn post boy in a shiny glass and metal office.

I'm going to leave you with a new Song Of The Week by a band called Elastica. Their debut album was released back in early 1995 and featured this track, Car Song. Britpop was in full swing at this point, carrying a torch for guitars and British references, and this song holds fantastic memories for me. Give it a listen, let me know what you think if you haven't heard it before. If you heard it the first time around, does it invoke any memories for you?

LOL @ use of the term 'sprog' as an alternate for offspring. I remember going to Britpop nights here is TO in the mid to late 90s, good times. Go....Supergrass! ;)

Reeny - Ahh, Supergrass. I remember the wonderment at Gaz' sideburns. Good times indeed.

Not that you’d ever shy away from a controversial topic, but the “stay-at-home-mom” happens to be one. I prefer to believe you’ve encountered snobbery – which any pretentious idiot is capable of.

I like that song – brought back memories...some good, some not so good, some bad...

Brilliant!! Finally someone has tackled the untouchable martyr that is the "Stay-At-Home Mom" (or at least one certain breed of them). "...woman tries to recreate high pressure environment..." I mean, come on, that is just too funny. Rivaled only by the Mom who then goes back to work and mind-numbingly talks about her "sprogs" in completely non-work appropriate environments. Also a gem.
