Seriously, Just Read This!

Now THIS is very very very cool. Maybe I'm being geeky, but I seriously love stuff like this. Makes me glad to be alive in a time when we're still able to make discoveries like this, I find it quite exciting. Imagine if we already knew all the answers to everything, how boring would that be? Very boring, that's how much.

I think it's one of humanity's greatest gifts, the desire for more knowledge, the need to be more than what we are right now. There's so much we don't know, not just about the big things like how the universe began or the origins of life on this planet or even the meaning of life (if there is indeed a meaning to it all), but the little things. Like, what is Marmite or why does there have to be such a thing as a "Bad Hair Day" and is The Matrix actually real (c'mon, it could be!)? Seriously, scientists need to get onto those.

So anyway, when this arrives in London, I'm definitely off to see it. Along with probably a billion other people. Wow, that'll be fun! Wonder if you'll be allowed to take photos of it? If not, I'll have to go all covert and try and get a sneaky one with my phone.

Whilst typing this I've been listening to some tunes and Oasis came on, playing Wonderwall on Jools Holland back in 2000*. It's not generally one of my favorite Oasis songs, it's obviously a very good song, but I think I've heard it too many times. However, this effort is pretty good and I thought I'd share it. Lyrics below.

Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda, somehow, realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how

Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day but they'll never throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

And all the roads that lead you there were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

*(I remember being a lot younger and thinking, "Man, I'm going to be so old when I say I remember back in 2000"...that memory is really depressing!)

47 million years ago! Hard to get my head around that number.
(And you think 9 years seems long ago...)

So far, I’ve liked every version of Wonderwall I’ve heard - although I’m skeptical as to the notion of anyone being “saved” by someone else.

I can not stand ANY version of that song, not because it's bad or anything. When I lived with Swedish Meatball back when it came out, she had gone through a break up and played that song over and over again for a 3 week period. We were pretty close to crazy glueing her into the bedroom.....
